Location was perfect, close to the Crucible and the Lyceum, and the spa included in the price
Brilliant location, close to the centre and it was clean
We recommend, to anyone staying in Sheffield. The place was classic, we really enjoyed it. The classic king room had a heating system, a laptop-compatible safe and an ironing set. Our kudos go to receptionist for the hospitality! Lots of meals for breakfast, it was sensational. Pool was great, comfortable to sit around.
The bed was big and the breakfast was REALLY GOOD. The hotel was next to Sheffield Midland train station. Plenty of restaurants to eat close by, like Vero Gusto that was only 5 minutes' walk away. Staff was helpful all this time.
Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice. The bed was big and comfortable, the staff was very nice and courteous and we felt very comfortable.
The elevator was heard in the room, even at night, even though the stairwell was in between
The elevator system is defective. Third floor still okay, but 6th?
Furniture of the rooms is properly aged. TV and minibar faulty (but was repaired, TV unfortunately unsuccessful). Breakfast goes like this, maximum 1 kind of cheese, everything else like the 2 kinds of jam, the honey, Nutella etc. packed in plastic - not possible at all!!!!
loved the spa and the locality of the hotel.
cant say that we found anything we didnt like
Throughout my stay at the hotel the level of service and attention from all members of staff was exceptional, and arguably at the highest levels one would expect anywhere in the uk.
Impressed. Nicest room I've had for a while and the best foyer! Immaculately clean and our room was made up well..
The food was fine but priced a bit steeply, so we ordered sandwiches rather than full meals.
Excellent location, large room and large bed, quite helpful staff, good buffet breakfast, ironing facilities in the room, nice & spacy bathroom with bath and shower corner.
The hotel has two sorts of rooms, mine was the "ordinary" one: In general ok but not very nice carpet not well fixed to floor and not vacuum cleaned every day, squeaky bed with hard iron springs pushing through matress. "Minibar" is advertised in the room but in fact it's an empty fridge which (as a general hotel policy) cannot be switched on in any room of this category. So if you need to refrigerate your own stuff, you must run down to a kitchen fridge. Windows are not openable, the only "fresh" air comes from tubes in the ceiling. But this is the way how the architect designed it:).
We came from a very early flight from Spain and my daugter was sick. They gave us the first cleaned room so we were checked in by 09:30 am
They did not tell us that breakfast was included. We had an early train to catch to Edinburgh. If we had know breakfast was included we of course would have eaten before checking out.
The hotel was in an excellent location for all the amenities. We didnt try the restaurant or the spa but they both looked nice. The staff did everything you asked.
The drinks at the bar were very expensive but there was lots of other bars in the vacinity.
Lovely hotel, pleasant and courteous staff which seems rare today. Modern hotel which is close to everything you need.
Two drinks at the bar cost nearly as much as the room!!!
Payment was a problem at the hotel as they have taken 2 x the amount of the room off my card. Are giving it me back but will take 3 -4 days to get back to me!
